Our Enviroschool Journey
Our road to becoming an Enviro-school began in 2009.
The staff and pupils were asked how they would like to enhance our school environment. This created our Vision which is “to encourage our school to develop understanding of our Environment– and learn what is important to our school community.”
Each year two monitors are chosen from each class to work in this group.
From our small beginnings we are creating an environment we are proud of and enjoy being part of. Our bush area has been extended and developed to enable the children to play in.
School gardens have been made where the Enviro-monitors plant seeds, sell the produce or give it to people in need. Watering has been created by recycling rain water from school buildings.
Each year we host students from Japan through the Kuaka programme. We learn about their culture and encourage them to enjoy ours.
We have planted native plants in local parks and estuaries.
As monitors they have encouraged the students to recycle and remove rubbish from our grounds.
